Subject: Prozac

Question
I recently started taking Prozac and have broken out in an eczema-type rash.  I am wondering if there is Sulfa in Prozac, as I have an allergy to Sulfa.  Thank you

Answer
Dear Isla

Prozac is completely unrelated to the sulphonamides so would think that you are also allergic to this drug. There are plenty other antidepressants not related to Prozac that could be used if your eczema is a major problem and not easily relieved with topical treatment. Speak to your prescriber about this.

Regards

Dr Alan Galbraith
