Subject: effexor XR/zoloft
Question Hi,
I feel extremely confused and am wondering where to go from here. I took Zoloft for 2 1/2 months 50mg for depression and was feeling great. Energy back feeling happier etc etc BUT side effects were bad. Weight gain of 8kg in 7 weeks and i was on a low calorie diet and exercising atleast 4 times a week. Sexual disfunction was also a problem and i was unable to achieve orgasm anymore (i am female). The doctor changed me to Effexor XR 37.5mg a day and have been taking this for two weeks. This has made me feel awful again, extremely extremely tired (dont get up until about 11am now), dizzy constantly, and generally a really low depressed feeling again like i dont want to get out of bed. I feel zoloft was working much much better but i hated the side effects and cannot afford to put on weight. Where do i go from here?! Help appreciated :-)
Answer Hi Katie,
There are several other antidepressants yet to try. Tell your doctor that effecor is not working for you and that the side effects are intolerable. Other options include Wellbutrin, Remeron, Celexa, Lexapro.
Thank you or using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
