About Nigel Simmons
Expertise I am happy to answer general questions on medicines and hospital care. If possible, please use approved / chemical names rather than brands which are not internationally recognised.
Like all health professionals I am bound by a duty of care which prevents me giving detailed information about medication or treatment of people other than the questioner.
I will endeavour to help wherever possible or point towards more appropriate advice. If however your question crosses too far into patient confidentiality, I hope you will understand why I cannot answer your question.
Consider.. would you want me to discuss your care with a friend or relative without your knowledge?
Experience Registered as a UK pharmacist in 1982 and have worked in a number of hospital and health management posts around the UK. Formerly Chief Pharmacist for a 440 bed general hospital in Cambridgeshire.
Past/Present clients Previously Sysop on CompuServe UK Professionals forum.

Subject: med mixture
Question I have moved quite a lot in the past five years due to going back to school for my Masters, career change, etc. I've had meds added, but would like to be more confident the meds I am on are not toxic. I am on: Depakote ER 1000, Sertraline HCL 100 MG, Mirtazapine 60 MG, Buspirone HCL 20 MG, Alprazolam .25 PRN, Zolpidem Tartrate 10 MG PRN. I am looking for a psychiatrist in my area, and presently am having trouble finding one accepting new patients.
Thanks,
Answer Shannon
While all drugs can have side effects, if you have been taking this combination for a period of time without any difficulties then you are unlikely to be in any immediate danger.
My suggestion would be to continue looking for a specialist who can take over your care and give a detailed review of your medication needs. I can appreciate your difficulties and can only suggest persistence and asking for a recommendation of someone who may be availalable to you.
I hope this helps.
