Question Are u aware if there is any recall on Levoxyl. For the past several years every so often when i get a refill it seems strong or weak so I take it back for a replacement. My Doctor explained to me that they are like vitiams sometimes strong or weak. I ve decided to change pharmcies to see if it resolves this problem. Do u have any information regarding Levoxyl? Thank u for your time
Answer There have not been any recent recalls on Levoxyl. Per the FDA's website the last recall was prior to Levoxyl being reformulated and involved drug that expired in 2000 and 2001. The manufacturer of Levoxyl was required to send out a letter to prescribers in 2004 informing them of some irregularities in tablet dissolution. The tablets were dissolving too rapidly and in some cases before the patient could completely swallow the dose. There has been no further reference to Levoxyl on the FDA's website since this letter in 2004. Some patient can be very sensitive and more difficult to regulate on thyroid medication no matter which thyroid product is prescribed for them.
