Pharmacy - transferring rx's

Question
If I want to transfer a prescription from one pharmacy to another, is it better to I tell the one I want to send it or the one I want to get it?

Answer
In most cases it is the responsibility of the pharmacy that is receiving the prescription to call the pharmacy where you have previously filled the prescription.  If the pharmacy will not cooperate, the exchange of information can be done by asking either pharmacy as long as they are following the laws of the state that you live in.  State laws governing transfers of prescriptions do vary greatly, with some states not allowing pharmacy to pharmacy transfers and others limiting the number of times a prescription can be transferred.

Thanks
