Pharmacy - Eutroxsig interactions

Expert: Dr Alan Galbraith - 10/19/2009

Question
Hello, I've recently been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and am taking Eutroxsig.  I have also started to cleanse myself with lot's of fresh vegetable juices, and am having seriously painful migrains and neck pain.  I tried to stay off all other medications to aid in the cleansing, but need to take some pain tablets to cope with these headaches.  I am taking Panadiene (codeine and paracetamol).  Is it OK to combine this with Eutroxsig.  Also would it be OK to take Mersyndol Night strength if the pain gets too bad, or does that interact.  I'm feeling OK, but very dry in the mouth.

Answer
Dear Wendy

There is no problem with Eutroxsig and Panadeine nor Mersyndol. Make sure that if you take the Mersyndol take it at least four hours after the Panadeine as some people can get excessive sedation. You may find though that the doxylamine in the Mersyndol causes your mouth to be even drier. Drink plenty and if your dry mouth is still a problem try Aquae spray which is an artificial saliva.

Regards

Alan Galbraith
