Question Dear Dr Ravindra,
My family are in a World of hurt at the moment because my husband failed a Compulsory Drug Test for Cannabis. My husband does not smoke cannabis at all. He exposes himself to a small amount of cannabis due to his sister being a user and he is a regular taker of Neurofen (Ibuprofen). His reading on the first test which was a EMIT test of >85 ng/ml and on the retest it was 75 ng/ml GC/MS test. We have been told this can both be caused by passive and by the Neurofen (Ibuprofen) and I'm beginning to think he could of possibly eaten some, because there is no way he has smoked any. We are fighting his case at the moment at which his employment are saying he is a 'user' and the results are of someone who has taken drugs and nothing else could cause these results. We have two other professional people helping us as this is my husbands livelihood we're in the middle of losing. Are you able to provide any feedback on the information i have given you. It was urine sample that was tested. Are you able to explain why both his results have come back different?
Many thanks
Answer Hi Lauren,
First let me tell you that the drugs he is taking cannot be responsible for the positive test. The possible explanations are:
1. It could be due to passive smoking or as you say he may have eaten cannabis.
2. The two tests are not different. If the first result was >85 ng/ml, and the second test shows 75 ng/ml, this is the way it should be. The level goes down with time always.
3. The test could be faulty. You are not the only one with such a dilema, there are literally thousands of people suffering due to faulty tests.
I am requesting all such people to get together and file may be what is known as a mass action suit. Over the last few months I get atleast one letter like yours. I am asking all such people to get together so that you can fight the system. It is not possible to take on the system individually, but together you can do it. One such sufferer is Susan Brown, she has started a group or forum for the fight, please write to her and join her. susan brown <rickiesue333@yahoo.com>
This is my suggestion.
