Question I am currently talking Valium for a pelvic floor dysfunction. My Floor is tight and compressing some of the local nerves. I take 10 15 mg daily which helps. It does slow my cognitive functions a bit. I'm very forgetful and feel like my head is in the clouds. Would I benefit from valium suppositories. Are their any down sides to them Thank You
Paul
Answer Hi Paul,
You are suffering from the effects of valium. With a dose of 10 to 15 mg a day, valium would impair your cognitive fuctions and affect your nervous system. But I do not think your experience will be any different with suppositories. Either way the drug would enter your brain and produce these effects. The only way would be to change the drug, but I would not recommend it right away. In many cases after long use the CNS effects of valium disappear, hence you ay become more comfortable. If that does not happen we will have to swithc to a drug with less CNS effects. Remember the main effect of valium is on the brain, its effect on muscles is a side effect. SOme drugs like Carisoprodol mainly affect muscles, they do have CNS side effects. So you will be changing to a drug which does not have its main effect on the brain.
