Pharmacy - Cheratussin and Motrin

Expert: Barbara Judge - 11/3/2009

Question
My 9 year old daughter is currently taking Cheratussin DAC Syrup, about 1 tsp. to help her with her cough. Can I give her children's motrin to help her rest at night? If so, what dosage would you suggest?

Answer
Yes, your daughter may take Children's Motrin along with Cheratussin DAC as long as she does not have any drug allergies or asthma which would prohibit its use.  The dose, however is dependent on her weight, not her age.  If you send me her weight, I can send you the proper dose.

Thanks
