Question
Dear Sir,

I am from western India on Tenormin 100 Losartan 100 and Amlodepine and HCT 25 prescribed by the dr in 2005 and I have been doing well I am a male 55 years. My dr here asked me to switch over to Telmisartan 80 mg in place of losartan 100. He asked me to reduce HCT 25 mg to 12.5 because of inclusion of Telimsartan which, according to him is slightly superior molecule. Though I am comfortable with the prescribed regimen but dr says I should stand to benefit of new Telmisartan over losartan. There does not appear to be any resaon for a change but dr says it is better for me. In my heart of hearts I feel when I am comfortable with the losartan, is the chnage desirable ?

Answer
Dear Mookesh

I tend to agree full-heartedly with you. If one is on a satifactory and working well drug regime without any problems I see no reason to change this regime. However, without knowing your history, BP, weight etc it is impossible for me to be 100% accurate in my beginning statement as there may be factors I nor you are completely aware off. Please discuss this with your doctor.
