Question My dr has suggested Danclear shampoo containing KETOCONAZOLE 2 % W/ W + ZINC PYRITHIONE 1 %. Earlier I used to take slsun cotaiing selenium sulfide (1%).I have psoriasis on scalp and elbow/back Which shampoo is good for long term use. Can U guide me I m from India Regards
Answer Dear Prbat
None of these will help much with psoriasis as they are mainly used for treating dandruff which is now known to be caused by a fungus. I would suggest a coal tar shampoo which is good for scaling such as is found in psoriasis. Also use of a scalp lotion contig a corticosteroid may help. If you askk your pharmacist he/she should be able to help with brand names.
