QUESTION: Hello, and thanks heaps for your answer, I do appreciate it a lot. I am about to turn 39. When people turn 39, do they get fatter? I have been skinny all my life, and I didnt know I was allergic to lactose also. Just last year I found out that I am allergic to lactose, so I stopped having lactose. So I started having about 4 teaspoons of honey in total (1 teaspoon in each cup of tea, 4 cups of tea a day) a day in my cups of tea instead. Plus I turn 39 this year. Somehow, in amongst all that, I have put on weight. What do you think it could be? Thanks heaps for your time, I really appreciate it a lot
ANSWER: Hi Christina,
As we age there is a change in amount and distribution of fat. A major factor for this in women is change in hormones. Are you experiencing a change in you you usual menstrual cycle?
A change in metabolism can also be due to changes in thyroid hormone functions. You can have your doctor check that with a simple blood test called TSH. These are just 2 thoughts to consider in this matter.

QUESTION: Hello, and thank you so much for your answers, I really appreciate it a lot. My menstrul cycle seems a bit shorter-it used to go for 2 days and now it goes for one day. Could that mean anything do you think? Also, is there a test I could do at the doctors to see if there is a change in my hormones? Thanks heaps for your time, I do appreciate it a lot :-)
Answer Hi Christina,
A change in menstrual cycle could fefinitely be indicative of a change in your hormonal status. Talk toy your doctor about it. There are tests to evaluate your hormonal status.
