Question Hi Dr. G., I recently was in a vehicle accident and am being treated for wicked headaches and I am wondering if the medication I am on is bothering my ulcers. I am on Flexeril (muscle relaxer) as well as a sleeping aid. Could they be bothering my ulcers as today I have a sharp pain in my upper abdomen. I take nexium once a day. I am from Canada.
Answer Dear Donella
Flexeril can cause abdominal pain on its own even without having ulcers even though this is uncommon. I doubt any sleeping aid would be involved. Speak to your prescriber to see if another drug can be prescribed.
