Question
Hi,
Ive been on wellbutrin xl 300mg about 6 months, prior to that I was on lexapro.  I went off lexapro due to the sexual side effects and weight gain.  However, I noticed that the welbutrin was making me edgy I am now taking 150mg with some improvment in the edgy area yet lacking im the depression area. I did great on the lexapro (I only took 5mg) with the exception of the 2 MAJOR side effects.  My doctor will put me on both lexapro 5mg and welbutrin xl 150mg. Can this be successful and safe?  Will the side effects cancel each other out?

Answer
Hi Kelly,
I have seen Wellbutrin and Lexapro used together safely. They different modes of action.
As to the side effectd, it is not predictable if they will cancel each other out.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
