Pharmacy - Excedrin extra strength

Expert: Eric Brandt - 5/1/2009

Question
I have been taking Excedrin extra strength for a week now. I have cluster headaches, but nothing works for them so I take the excedrin keeping it in my system (never overdose just 8 pills in 24 hours like they suggest) and it seems to help or maybe it is placebo effect,or it is going back into remmission  i don't care. here is my question: is it okay for me to take Excedrin extra strength for another week or two? (8 pills in 24 hours) or can i damage myself somehow? I don't want to get other problems from taking too much of this

Answer
Hi R,
One of the ingredients in Excedrin is aspirin. Taking too much aspirin can cause stomach bleeds. You are outting yourself at risk for stomach bleeds by taking this much Excedrin over a 2 week period.
Please see your doctor about other options that may be available to you.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincrerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
