Question My wifes pain management Doctor prescribes her 60mg of Oxycontin bid, and 10/325 of Percocet once a day. She is also prescribed Alprazopam 1mg once and Zoloft 100 mg once a day by her PCP. Her pain management Doctor gave her a urine test and she tested positive for a high level of Morphine and Hydromorphone and thus denied her care anymore. Is it possible to test possible for these drugs even though you do not take them?
Answer Hi Tim,
Both Oxycontin and percocet contain a morphine derivative called oxycodone. In a lab which is not using a very sophisticated testing system they could mistake oxycodone for something like morphine.
The pain management doctor is pathetic, to deny treatment to a pateint is pain is criminal. Most unfortunately your country allows this to happen.
I would first consult a lawyer and then tell the doctor what his or her duties towards the patients are. I think someone needs to file a heavy suit against the government and make them stop this misuse of drug testing.
