Question I am a recovering addict and have been clean now for 601 days now and am in the final stages of drug court. I have been testing for 20 months with no negative tests. I was randomly tested yesterday and it was positive for meth~I have recently discovered that I have allergies~The medication I have been taken is Benadryl allergy& sinus headache it contains phenylephrine hci . Would this cause a positive on a urinaylis? Sincerly ~Helen Johnson
Answer Hi Helen,
To my mind none of these meds should produce a positive reaction for methadone. But then the tests which are used are not always of the best quality and hence the result.
The drug in Benadryl and phenylephrine are so different from methadone or methamphetamine (I am not really sure what you mean by meth)that a possiblity of a false positve is very remte, yet if the test is bad anything can happen.
