Pharmacy/Allergy or bad reaction?

Question
Hi, I am have been prescribed Biaxin XL (500 mg) and T3 with Codeine. I Took them and had a really bad reaction. I was nauseous, vomiting, I couldn't eat or walk. I stopped taking both medications and the nausea has passed, But now I have severe pains in my Joints. Mostly in both wrists and in my fingers. Did I have an allergic reaction to one of these drugs? Should I be seeing my Dr again, or will this pain go away?
Thanks

Answer
None of what you are describing is a true allergy.  The reactions are in fact side effects.  The nausea and vomiting could have been caused by either the Biaxin XL or the Tylenol with Codeine.  You could try taking them with food to see if this is enough to alleviate this reaction so you can continue on the medications.  Biaxin is the most likely culprit in causing joint pain.  If it is severe, I would recommend contacting your doctor to see if he/she want you to try to continue with the Biaxin or if he/she wants to replace it with a different antibiotic.

Thanks
