Pharmacy - Maximum Dosisi for Dolaren Coated Tablets and Xylocaina Spray

Expert: Eric Brandt - 6/29/2009

Question
I'm 74 years old, 2/3 weeks ago I had mouth surgery to extract a very problematic Wisdom Tooth, among other illnesses I have a stomach ulcer and have to look for analgesic coated pills/tablets, I am using "Dolaren" coated tablets and Xylocaina Spray (10% Lydocaina)to help me with a very  severe pain for this very traumatic surgery:what is the maximum Dolaren dosis: one tablet every 8 Hrs. or one tablet every 12 Hrs.? As for the Xylocaina, how often may I use it: spray as needed? or how many times a day?

Thanks for your time and atttention

Answer
Hi Hugo,
The maximum recommended daily dose of Diclofenac is 150 mg.
I am not familiar with the the use of Xylocaine spray in the mouth for this condition. There are topical anasthetic gels that have longer staying power than the spray. Have you considered them?
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
