Question I'm 34 male diagnosed with hpylori my doctor has advised Calythromicine 500X2; Amoxiciline 500X2; esmeprazole40X2 for 10 days i need to know whether is it safe treatment moreover any usful advise is requested
Answer The treatment you were prescribed of clarithromycin 500mg twice a day, amoxicillin 500mg twice a day, and esomeprazole 40mg twice a day for 10 days is a commonly prescribed treatment that is intended to cure h. pylori. It is generally recognized as safe and effective for the majority of patients although many patients do relapse over time. The esomeprazole should be taken about 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal so it is taken on an empty stomach. The clarithromycin and amoxicillin may be taken at the same time. It is important the clarithromycin be taken with food so it does not cause upset stomach. It is important to finish the entire 10 day treatment regimen in order to achieve the best outcome.
