Pharmacy - Yellow pills

Expert: Dr. Ravindra Bhaskar Ghooi - 6/25/2009

Question
Hi, my friend has an old pack of birth control pills that are a 21 day regime and is not sure what brand they are. They are 3 rows of 7 and all yellow. Just wondering if you have any idea what brand they may be and how to dispose of them properly.

Thanks so much for your help.

Answer
Hi Katelinn,
It is doubtful if one can dentify a tablet based only on the colour. We need something called NDC codes whch are printed on the tablet, but does the packet have no name printed on it? That would really be strange.
In any case you may flush the tablet down the toilet and that would be adequate.
