Question
QUESTION: hi barbara,
are pharmacists required  to have perfect color vision? thanks

ANSWER:      No, Pharmacists are not required to have perfect color vision.  The Americans with Disabilities Act would prohibit discrimination against this and many, many, many other possible problems.

Thanks

QUESTION: first off i'd like to thank you for the quick response.  but my friend was applying to be a pharmacy technician and she was required to have normal color vision.  her pharmacy school even asked her if she had normal color vision.  why would this be?  thanks

Answer
I don't know why anyone would ask this.  You might have your friend ask the pharmacy school where she applied why they asked her this question.  While color vision is helpful to Pharmacists, it certainly is not required by Federal Law and I know I graduated from Pharmacy school with a student that lacked color vision in the blue/green color range.

Thanks
