Question I've been prescribed Cefdinir for an ear/sinus infection. I have a strong
stomach, but I'm emetophobic. Is it likely that I'll experience side effects
such as diarrhea, nausea or vomiting? If so, would probiotic yogurt help to prevent these effects?
Answer Of the side effects you are most concerned about diarrhea is the most often reported. The incidence of diarrhea is 15% in patients taking cefdiner, while the incidence of nausea is 3%, and 0.7% for vomiting. Eating yogurt may help reduce diarrhea if you are unfortunate enough to experience it. Nausea and vomiting can usually be prevented by taking each dose of the medication with food. Food may slow the absorption of the antibiotic, but will not effect the overall effectiveness.
