Question QUESTION: 4 or 5 years after stopping Lexapro, premature ejaculation is still a problem. this was not a problem befor taking lexapro.
Appears lexapro was the cause of the PE.
In reference to this page, http://en.allexperts.com/q/Pharmacy-1407/2008/4/paxil-lexapro.htm
is dosing a daily regime (until at least 3 wk following initiation of treatment.)
or a one time dosing before (Adult Dose 50 mg PO 2-12 h before sexual relations)
Thank you, Greg
ANSWER: Dear Greg
I have never heard of Lexapro nor has it been recorded (to my knowledge) as being a cause of PE, if I understand your preamble correctly.
Re its use for PE some recommended a daily dose but I usually say try it at least 12 hours before sexual activity and see how things go. This works in many cases but needs planning as does Viagra for opposite reasons. If this does not work the a daily regime may be needed. A lot depends upon sexual activity frequency too and dose may need to be tailored towards this. A medical practitioner experienced in sexual problems should be consulted if you still have problems.

QUESTION: Thank you for your reply Dr Galbraith.
I probably did not taper off the lexapro correctly.
As it has the effect of delaying ejaculation when on it and the immediate onset of sever PE directly after stopping and no previous bouts of PE I can only conclude it is from the lexapro.
Could re introducing and properly tapering off possibly restore normal function?
I found a few other instances of reported lexapro caused PE on the Net, but they have since dissappeared. Hmmm???...
It Feels like If seratonin was a hill, orgasm was on the wrong side of the hill. there are Obvious severe Neuro chemical imbalences I have over come by brute force so far.
Looking for a premamnant cure.
Thanks, Greg
Answer Dear Greg
Maybe time will do the trick. As one ages it generally takes longer to achieve orgasm but i know of no cure. Some people use lignocaine sprays to delay ejaculation but speaking to people who have used them, it makes their penis feel like a lump of lead.
I would liked to have seen these articles on the net about Lexapro causing PE but I bet they were not from authenticated sources. I am always telling students 99% of web searches throw up poppycock.
