QUESTION: dear sir,
what is the use of alprazolam tablet whether it effect to libido, one of the doctor has written it to me, and how is libotryp for depression and anxiety?

ANSWER: Dear Majid

Alprazolam is for anxiety and has sedative properties. It doers not usually affect ones libido. Libotryp, I think is amitryptiline, an antidepressant with strong sedative properties and usually decreases libido. It is not all that much use as an antianxiety drug.

QUESTION: dear sir,
can you suggest me any good anti anxity medicine which does not effect to libido and which can be taken longer safely moreover it should not be sedetive too and with less serious side effects bcoz whenever i am taking sedative medicine it is giving me difficulties in operating my machine, what are the common side effect of aripiprazole?

Answer
Dear Majid

Please refer back to my multiple answers re suggestions for you including psychotherapy. There are no antianxiety medicines that are recommended for long term use because of tolerance and addiction. In the short term they are good and none should have any adverse effect on sexuality. Buspirone is an exception to sedation and tolerance and I have discussed this with you before as I have the antidepressants with antianxiety properties. I still think psychotherapy and not drugs is what you need and will benefit most from.

The adverse effects of aripiprazole are tardive dyskinesia (only after more than a year); neuroleptic malignant syndrome (rare); headache; orthostatic hypotension; peripheral oedema; GI upset; CNS disturbances; rash.
