eric,i am 79 years old and have tried every sleeping pill out there.currently i take a combo of xanax and problems just a little sleepy next psychiatrist even thou i never had a seizure i should try gabitril.she said it works on gaba and is safe, less then 1%of non-epilectics taking gabitril get seizures.being a layman i dont knoe if gabitril is more dangerous on central nervous long term studies.i feel more comfortable with xanax and remeron.recenr reports on sleeping pills made me uneasy.there is a lot of bull-shit phony studies about sleeping pills, but not being a phamatist i cant tell which study is your opion/howard

Hi Howard,
I am not in favor of using gabitril off label for sleep. The manufacturer does not recomment it to be used by people who are not epileptic. I can not ethically recommend against manufacturer recommendations.
Use Remeron and add Xanax if necessary. Have you tried trazodone?
Thank you for using Allexperts
