eric,i have been taking 10 mg  of hydroxyzine about 5 times a week for a month to control hives.should I be concerned about tardive dyskinesia.some studies say it takes years to develop other studies say it does not cause tardive dyskinesiaany other antihistamine that is safe long term for hives

Hi Roger,
I would not be concerned. The dose  you are taking is low and relatively infrequently if you are taking 5 doses per week. I have people on it 3 times aday for years with no tardive dyskinesia obsserved.
Thank you for using Allexperts.
