Pharmacy/Low HDL + Aspirin

Respected Sir,

I am 56 years male hypertensive on Tenoclor 100 Losar A twice and Glycomet GP 1 twice I have S cholesterol 115 TG 100 LDL 90 VLDL 21 They are within limits but HDL is 33 or 34 Dr says that since I have low HDL coupled with DM +HT I need to take statin and aspirin. Can you guide me the exact position as regards taking statin and aspirin

Hi Harsvadan,
The role of statin and aspirin in people such as you has been proved beyond doubt. Large trials have demonstrated that aspirin can reduce MI related mortality by around 25% and statin by an additional 30-60 %. I would recommend  atorastatin (10 mg) and ecosprin (75 mg ) daily for a number of years.
Best wishes
