Question
I am 60 years old had a spell of dizzyness and nausea and visited my internist who prescribed Antivert,  3 times daily. Is this medication safe to take as a maintenance drug or only for short term use? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Angela,
Antivert has been removed from the Canadian market many years ago. I  am not sure of the reason it was removed. I do not where you are where you canstill get Antivert. Antivert contains meclizine which is an antihistamine. Generally this type of drug should only be used when needed. Serc which contains betahistine is newer and perhaps safer and can be used long term.
Thank you for using Allexperts.
Sincerely,
