Question I'm concerned about a friend with stage IV lung cancer who believes she knows more than her physician. He prescribed Glovebox because she has a pulmonary embolism. She informed me if her unwillingness to take the drug based on Internet research. She believes Lovenox prevents her from taking Ibuprofen/Advil. Additionally; she believes it disqualifies her from someday getting an epidural for a herniated disc. Finally; she believes the drug will prevent her oncologist from performing a successful lung biopsy because it will "thin her blood too much". Your comments are welcomed. Thanks!
Answer Hi Jim,
Your friend is wise to avoid ibuprofen while on Lovenox. The combination increases the risk for bleeding. She is incorrect as far as the biopsy or any other procedure that she may need in the future. Lovenox is stopped prior to the procedure and resumed post procedure.
