Question My diabete Dr prescribed Glipizide 2.5mg twice a day for me. When I bought this drug at the pharmacy, the pharmacist told me if I'm allergic to Bactrim then I can't take this. My new diabete Dr doesn't know what med that I'm allergic to and she never ask! So do I take it or just let it sitting at home? What is the weight of risk to take it? It just a very mild tabs.
Thanks for answering my post.
Pika
Answer Hi Pika,
Glipizide is related to sulfa drugs. Some people with sulfa allergies can take this drug depending how they react to the sulfa drugs. Your pharmacist was very astute in warning you about the possible allergic reaction. You need to get back to your doctor regarding the type of allergic reaction you had and then a decision can be made if can continue to take Glipizide.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
