Question
My 3 year old son has been prescribed both albuterol and pulmicort. Which one is better? What is the difference? can you please explain what each one does?
Thanks!

Answer
Dear Kaydie,
Albuterol and pulmicort are two different drugs which act in different way to prevent and treat asthma. We cant compare the two since they are as different as cheese and chalk. Albuterol relaxes the bronchial muscles relieving spasm and breathlessness. Pulmicort stabilizes mast cells the breakage of which causes attacks. Use of these two drugs ensures a spasm free life for the child and helps him take part in his daily routine without any problems. I hope my explanation is adequate, yet if you need more information please write.
