Question I'm still in high school, but I want to be a pharmacist, but I don't know what steps to take to get there. How many years do I have to study in college, how many years do I have to go to a pharmacy school and what type of classes to take. I'm still not very good on the chemicals, do I have to be? Can you please give me information?
Answer Hi Esther,
It takes a minimum of 5 years of post secondary education to become a pharmacist. This includes 1 year of pre-requisites and 4 years of pharmacy school. The program is heavy on chemistry, biology, microbiology, some physics, physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, advanced mathematics courses.
You should look up the course descriptions available from the college where you plan to attend.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
