Question I have been on the birth control pill Nordette (28) for about 6 years and have been happy with it.
Today I went to my yearly physical and I was given
Levlen (28) instead. I go to the health department because it is cheaper, they said they had switched brands, they also told me that Levlen was the equivalent to the Nordette I was taken.
I am nervous, I have not had any problems with the Nordette so switching is not easy.
I have looked but can not find the ingredients and amounts in either of the pill inserts.
I am hoping if you can tell me if they are in fact the same with different names, thanks.
Answer R,
Nordette contains Levonorgestrel 150 micrograms and Ethinyloestradiol 30 micrograms in every active tablet. There are 21 active tablets and 7 blank tablets in every pack.
Levlen contains also contains Levonorgestrel 150 micrograms and Ethinyloestradiol 30 micrograms in every active tablet and is of the same type of contraception. I see no need to worry while changing from Nordette to Levlen, and I dont think you will suffer in any way from the change, but might benefit due to the lower cost.
