I have been using Clindamycin Gel for the treatment of acne. It seems to be helping. One of my friends told me that eventually I will become immune to this drug, and it will no longer be effective. Is this true?
Thank You,
Amy
Answer Hi Amy,
It appears that your friend is under a mistaken impression. A person does not become immune to antibiotics. At most what can happen is that the organism (bacteria troubling you) can become resistant to the effects of the antibiotic, however the possibility of such an occurence is rare if as you say you are responding to the drug.
I would suggest you continue using clindamycin till it is useful to you.
