Question
My doctor has put me on 30mg of Cymbalta, 5mg of Zyprexa and I have gained weight really bad, been taking the combo for about 2months, today he put me on Wellbutrin XL 150mg and Phentermine 37.5mg, is it safe to take all this medication at one time?

Answer
Hi,Michelle,
Unfortunately, Zyprexa can cause weight gain and also hyperglycemia (high blood sugar). I hope he is checking your blood sugar and blood pressure.Cymbalta does not usually cause weight gain, may cause weight loss in some people.
I don't agree with the use of Phentermine for weight loss, especially if you may have high blood pressure. You may want to ask him if you can try something else instead of Zyprexa that may not cause you to gain weight Hope this helps, Mary
