AboutDr. Ravindra Bhaskar Ghooi Expertise I can provide information on drugs and medicines, their actions, uses, interactions and adverse effects. To avoid confusion, generic names of
medicines may please be provided. I am a pharmacologist, having worked
on animal and human pharmacology, and presently I am the Dean of Bilcare Research Academy, where we teach courses on clinical research. We dont work on saturdays and sundays, hence questions reachng me on these days will be replied on Monday, please bear with me.
I am interested in drug interactions with alcohol. Currently I am taking 1cc
injection of methotrexate, sulfasalizine(spelling), refalin, folic acid, and for
about a week I will be on augmentin. I know that my liver is already working
hard with these meds, but if I were to have 2-4 beers only about every 2
weeks would that be ok. My friends 21st birthday is coming up. Can I drink at
ALL while on these meds or can I just limit myself to maybe only 2 beers
every 2 weeks. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Christina
Answer Hi Christina,
You put me in a ethical dilema. Normally I should advice everybody not to drink alcohol. But I myself dont subscribe to this view. If all you are going to have is two beers and too the american ones (with low alcohol and only 330 ml) I see no harm. Just see that you have friends around you who will ensure you dont harm you.
Have a good time.
