Question Hello,
I have been taking pain medication for over 3 years now, I dont abuse them I take them as prescribed, when I called my doctors office to get my monthly refill the office told me that he was on vacation and they would not authorize my prescription I would have to wait till he got back...Unbelieveable, so now i have to wait a week for my meds, My question is Can I take the Darvocet-N 100/650 if it is 5 years old? does this medication deteriorate to toxic compounds If you could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it
Answer Hi Ree,
Firstly I apologise the delay in writing to you, I was out for a conference.
All drugs deteriorate over time. Mostly they do not become toxic, they become less effective. I know I am giving advice which is not strictly according to medical ethics, but it is ok to use expired tablets if you have no other option.
