Pharmacy - Interaction between albuterol sulfate and pulmicort respules

Expert: Dr. Ravindra Bhaskar Ghooi - 4/29/2005

Question
My daughter is 6 years old and she has a history of nasal polyps, allergies, and asthma.  She is currently using albuterol sulfate 0.083% four times a day.  Can she also use, or at least substitute, one of her breathing treatments with the pulmicort respules (nudesonide inhalation suspenstion (.25mg/2)? She is also taking half a teaspoon of Zytec daily, along with Nasonex once a day.

Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Manetta,
Firstly I think you mean Budesonide and not nudesonide. Secondly do you mean Zyrtec?
If these assumptions are right then you need not worry. Mostly these drugs (budesonide, zyrtec, nasonex and albuterol) are used together and they do not interact adversely.
Regards
Ravi Ghooi
