Pharmacy - Lexapro and Zoloft doseage equivancy

Expert: Eric Brandt - 9/25/2007

Question
I am wondering what the Zoloft equivalent of 10 mg of Lexapro is.  I know they say 10 mg of Lexapro is equivalent to 20 of Celexa.  Is there a drug equivalency chart of SSRI's?  I was on 100 mg of Zoloft and now 10 of Lexapro.  Just wondering if the doctor might increase the Lexapro or will the doseage be basically equivalent?

Answer
Hi Ryan,
There is not a dosage equivalaency chart for the SSRI's.
Zoloft is available in 3 different strengths, 25 mg , 50 mg and 100mg. Lexapro is available in 10 mg and 20 mg strengths. The best thing to do when switcj=hing from onew to the other is to start with a low or mid-range dose and titrate to desired effect.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
