Answer Hi,Anthony,
You can't compare apples and oranges. Even though they are in the same drug class, they have different characteristics that may make them work differently. For example, Mavik has an active metabolite; lisinopril doesn't. Whether that makes a difference in one person's body at an equivalent strength is not known. Unfortunately, medicine is an inexact science. So, taking 2mg of Mavik may reduce your blood pressure the same as 40mg lisinopril or it may not. The only way is to try it,and if your doctor is switching you from one to the other,it is better to start with a lower strength and work up than the other way around. Hope this helps, Mary
