Question I have just discovered that I am expecting my first child and as a precaution have immediately stopped taking Nexium mups 40mg, of which I have been taking 1 tablet daily for the last two years. Within hours my acid reflux and repeating sensations have returned. Do you think theres any way I can continue to take this medication whilst pregnant? I have tried swapping to chewy remegel and gaviscon liquid but they dont seem to work for me.
Kind regards, Melissa, age 30.
Answer Hi Melissa,
Yes you do have a problem. Nexum is not safe for use during pregnancy, it is in category B. I would suggest you use an alternative drug such as Ranitidine which is safer, but please consult your gynecologist before starting the same.
