Question I am a 23 year old male and I am currently taking Piroxicam 20 MGCapsules MLY once a day. I am going to my friends wedding on Staurday and I just want to know if it is ok for me to drink alcohol becasue of the pills and if so does it matter how much I drink? Should I skip taking the pill for that day? Thanks for your help. Nate
Answer The most common side effect of piroxicam is stomach upset which could spiral to gastric ulcers or bleeding if taken on an empty stomach over a long period of time or with large quantities of alcohol, which also causes gastric bleeding. That said, you should be able do drink alcohol IN MODERATION and with food. The most important thing is in moderation. A few drinks should not be harmful unless you already have a history of stomach problems. Alcohol to excess is always a problem, with or without piroxicam. Be safe and have a good time at the wedding.
