Question
Can Risperdal inhibit the fight or flight response and if I stop taking it will it come back?

Answer
Risperdal is known to cause some dose related drowsiness which may manifest itself as slowed reaction times.  There have been no documented reports that it inhibits the fight or flight response, however.  If you feel that you are experiencing this you should contact your doctor as soon as possible.  There is a mechanism in place by which your case could and should be reported to the FDA and the drug's manufacturer for review.  You and your doctor can then discuss whether it would be appropriate for you to continue taking Risperdal.  Since this has never been documented before I can not predict what the outcome will be if your doctor decides that taking you off Risperdal is the best option for you.
