Question hi..hope you can help! my girlfriend is taking wellbutrin 150 mg/day for seasonal depression. she is also taking cymbalta 30 mg/day for chemical imbalance. of course, this totals to 180 mg; she is having trouble sleeping so she takes lunestra 3 mg at bedtime. she wakes up after about 6 hours of sleep and cannot go back to sleep. now, my theory is that taking too much anti depressants makes you wired and you cannnot sleep. so, should she discontinue the wellbutrin and stay with the cymbalta? this is 2 different drs. prescribing the drugs. thank you much!!
Answer Hi James,
Cymbalta can cause sleeplessness. It is therefore better to take it in the morning.
As a pharmacist it is not my place to advise you to stop amedication a doctor prescribed. It is important that all physicians treating a person be aware of all medications and non prescription medications a person being treated is taking. Go back to the the family doctor and make sure he/she is aware of all prescription and non prescription medications being taken. Only then the doctor can make a decision regarding which medication to continue or not to continue taking.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
