Question
Are there any side effects from combining xanx and benadryl? I take xanax for anxiety disorder but also need to take benadryl for allergies. Aside from being sleepy will it have any adverse effects?

Hi Darcy,

You may feel drowsy or more tired when taking these drugs together. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how these drugs affect you. Do not take Diphenhydramine to help you sleep if you are already taking other drugs to treat sleeping problems, check with your health care professional first.

There is slight therapeutic duplication found.

Alprazolam, Diphenhydramine are Anxiolytics, Sedatives, and Hypnotics.

Aside from being sleepy, there are no other documented interactions.
