Question
QUESTION: What is the effect of ibuprofen on cumadin levels?
What is the effect of famotidine on cumadin levels?

ANSWER: Hi,Thom,
Ibuprofen and other NSAIDs (non steroidal antiinflammatory drugs)can increase the effect of Coumadin (warfarin) on blood clotting, causing blood to be "thinner".
Famotidine has no effect on Coumadin.
Hope this helps, Mary

QUESTION: what is the effect of Tylenol on coumadin

Answer
Hi,Thom,
Acetaminophen can increase clotting time, but if you are taking it infrequently (not on a daily basis)it really shouldn't cause a problem. If you start to take it on a routine basis with coumadin, you should have your INR checked more frequently than once a month until it is stabilized (INR between 2.0 and 3.0). Hope this helps, Mary
