Pharmacy - cymbalta and welbutrin?

Expert: Eric Brandt - 9/3/2007

Question
I take 60mg of cymbalta at night for depression and radiating nerve pain from bad disc's and fibromyalgia.  But it's not helping very much for the depression anymore but it is for the pain before this I was on welbutrin and it worked for a long time but then it no longer helped my depression.  Can I take 1 welbutrin in the morning and the cymbablta at night?  I feel this work work better together and would help me cut back on my smoking again,  I was down to 6 a day and since stopping the welbutrin I'm back up to almost a pack a day.

Answer
Hi Sharon,
Wellbutrin can lower the seizure threshhold as can Cymbalta. There is a danger that the combination can induce seizures so I do not recommend you take the two drugs together.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
