Question I have a script of darvocets that was filled on 10/06/06 with 4 refills. The experation date is 10/06/07. Is this for the script for 10/06/06 or does that include the 4 refills. Also what would be the complications of taking the pills filled on 10/06/06/. Thank you.
Answer A prescription of Darvocet expired after 6 months, so it expired last April and the refills will be voided, this is due to Federal law. The tablets are probably OK if they have been stored properly. They should have been stored in a cool dry place not exposed to extremes in either temperature or humidity. As a general recommendation as long as the tablets have been stored properly you can keep medication in your home for about 1 year. If the tablets have been stored in your kitchen or bathroom those are the 2 worst rooms in the house to store medicine and you may not want to take them.
