Pharmacy - diet pill

Expert: Layla Yeganeh - 7/26/2007

Question
I am currently taking a gernic prozac, generic prolosec and requip.  I want to take the diet pill hoodiaciti 90 ml capsules but want to make sure they do not interfere with my other medicine.  Please let me know.
Thanks,
Robin

Answer
Because Hoodia is classified as a food, drug interaction is not yet confirmed. It is also not regulated by the FDA, so you really have no idea what you are getting.

You can try this supplement, as far as I know its safe. One of my patients developed a rash after taking it and had to stop. I have not heard of Hoodiaciti 90ml.

Good luck to you, and always remember the best weight loss strategy includes a low glycemic diet, with plenty of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, seeds and nuts and some lean chicken, meats, unprocessed, and some low fat dairy.

Please stay away from processed foods, sodas, candy, muffins, refined carbohydrates. Exercise 5X a week, 2 days intensely. Lift weights if you can.

Just remember that caloric restriction will cause weight loss, with or without a pill. Some of it is psychological.

PS Prozac/Fluoxetine caused me to gain 10 lbs, I plataued and could not get below 140lbs, reguardless of the diet and exercise I did. But that side effect was worth the benefit of the drug, I felt, when I needed it. It effects everyone differently.

Hope this helps
